About Lite-On

Lite-On was first established in 1975 by Taiwanese entrepreneurs who had a history as Texas Instruments employees. Initially, the products offered by Lite-On consisted of LEDS, though they later began to branch out into varying electronics when they introduced computer power supplies upon the formation of their Power Conversion Division. In 1983, Lite-On held their initial public offering, becoming the first electronics company to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. In 2006, Lite-On acquired the Optical Disk Drive Business of BenQ, establishing themselves as one of the top ODD manufactures across the globe. Later in 2007, Lite-On entered a joint venture with Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. to develop optical disk drives. In the present, Lite-On has conducted some restructuring of their divisions, recently selling off their SSD business to Kioxia in 2020.
